Detection of Non Disclosure Agreements with Nessus
Modern business attempt to put in place "Non Disclosure Agreements" with each other. These agreements dictate the rules for use for knowledge gained through interaction with each other.
Tenable's research group recently added a .audit content policy file to search for NDAs in Adobe and Word documents. The expected location for an NDA would be in your legal department. However, discovering NDAs on public web servers, on public network folders or on mobile sales laptops may indicate that unauthorized people have access.
The .audit file performs some keyword searches. This could also be extended with specific names of competitors or business partners to be more exact in what is discovered. Below is a screen shot of a "hit" on a file which is a Tenable Network Security NDA:
The ability to audit content on remote systems with Nessus is available to Security Center users and Direct Feed subscribers.
